Ann Stibich, BSN, RN-BC, is a staff nurse at Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield, OH. She started her nursing career at Hillcrest Hospital in 2007 and has since become an active part of shared governance. Specifically, she serves as the staff nurse representative for the Nursing Congress Planning Committee and Nurse Executive Council. Ann also helps facilitate Nursing Congress, where the chairs of Shared Governance and hospital councils meet monthly.
Education and Clinical Background
Ann obtained her LPN from Willoughby-Eastlake School of Technical Nursing, ADN from Lakeland Community College, and BSN from Ohio University. She holds certification as a medical-surgical nurse through the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Her nursing background includes orthopedic, trauma, stroke, and all surgical patients, and she now works in the perioperative care unit. In addition, she recently cross-trained to the intensive care unit during the COVID-19 pandemic to support all units in her hospital.
Current Governance Work
Ann currently chairs her unit’s shared governance council and participates in a shared governance research project at her hospital. This project examines nurses’ perceptions of shared decision-making in a shared governance culture. She continues to grow in her shared governance role with the support of several mentors and the administration.
