Taina Kanninen has worked as a registered nurse and a ward sister in Finland for 30 years. Most of her career has been working in psychiatric wards and currently works in the Central Hospital of Päijät-Häme, Finland.
Taina graduated from the University of Eastern Finland in 2015 with a Master of Science in Nursing and is continuing as PhD candidate at the same university. For her doctorate Taina is studying the shared governance structures in Finnish healthcare. Many of the Finnish university hospitals are developing their work towards Magnet principles, and Taina is measuring its advancement by using the Index of Professional Nursing Governance (IPNG).
Taina just completed the translation of the IPNG into Finnish and is now working to publish an article reporting it.
