Current Role at UW Health
Sarah Brzozowski is the Director of Magnet and Nursing Excellence at UW Health in Madison, Wisconsin. In this role, she oversees UW Health’s Magnet designation, nursing research, evidence-based practice programming, and shared governance initiatives. Notably, she assisted UW Health in becoming only the second healthcare system to earn accreditation as a shared governance institution by the Forum for Shared Governance in 2021. Her nursing career began on a Clinical Research Unit, where her appreciation for research and advancing knowledge first developed.
Education and Academic Background
Before obtaining her bachelor’s degree in nursing at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee, she earned a bachelor’s degree in Spanish (with a minor in business) from the University of Wisconsin – Green Bay. In addition, she holds a Master’s in Business Administration from Arizona State University. Currently, she is a PhD student at the University of Wisconsin – Madison, where her dissertation explores leadership, work environment and professional nursing practice of registered nurses in primary care.
Professional Memberships
Sarah Brzozowski has served as Chair of the Health Systems, Policy & Informatics Research Interest Group at the Midwest Nursing Research Society. She holds Nurse Executive Advanced Certification through the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Furthermore, she maintains membership in the American Nurses Association, Sigma Theta Tau, American Academy of Ambulatory Care Nursing, and the Association for Leadership Science in Nursing.
