My Shared Governance Journey

smLauraLast year I was awarded the Nottingham Roosevelt Travelling Scholarship to investigate a work topic in the US. I went to 13 hospitals in 12 states over 3 months. The complete story of my journey is contained in a report I wrote on my return to the UK.

Since coming back to Nottingham University Hospital’s (NUH) NHS Trust, I have been made the Shared Governance Project Lead. This means that I am tasked with designing an effective structure for our two large hospitals, and supporting staff on the journey to Shared Governance.

Being such a junior Nurse, this career opportunity wouldn’t have happened without the benefits of Scholarship and the amazing advice from US colleagues. I learnt so much whilst travelling the US and want to thank EVERYONE who made my trip possible. The wealth of knowledge, great hospitality, and heartfelt kindness that I experienced, will stay will me forever.
