Taina Kanninen has worked as a registered nurse and a ward sister in Finland for 27 years. Most of her career has been working in psychiatric wards. She is currently a head nurse in The Rinnekoti Foundation, a renowned center of excellence which produces and delivers a wide range of expert healthcare and social inclusion services for persons living with intellectual or developmental disorders. Over four thousand persons embody Rinnekoti’s mission and vision, over three thousand of whom are service users, while the remainder are members of staff.
Taina graduated from the University of Eastern Finland in 2015 with a Master of Science in Nursing. She is a PhD candidate in the same university. For her doctorate Taina is studying the shared governance structures of Kuopio University Hospital (KUH). KUH is currently developing its work towards Magnet principles and Taina is measuring its advancement by using the Index of Professional Nursing Govervance (IPNG).
Taina just completed the translation of the IPNG into Finnish.
